New Cookie & Ice Cream Shop To Open First NJ Location In Westfield (patch.com) — Westfield residents can look forward to a new dessert destination as New York-based Cookies N’ Cream prepares to open its first New Jersey shop at 109 East Broad Street. The franchise, known for thick warm cookies paired with local ice cream and liquor-infused options, has not yet announced an opening date but is sharing updates on social media.    

2. Man Aggressively Yells Profanities, Racial Slurs At Westfield Delivery Driver: Blotter (patch.com) — Westfield police are investigating a reported road-rage incident where a man allegedly shouted profanities and racial slurs at a delivery driver and spat into her vehicle before fleeing. The latest blotter also details a DWI arrest, dog bite in Tamaques Park, fraud and theft cases, a shoplifting arrest, and several local property thefts around town.    

3. Westfield School Board Hears Updates on Referendum Construction (tapinto.net) — Westfield Public Schools’ major referendum construction is moving into a new phase, with architects and a construction management firm outlining timelines, roles, and safeguards for taxpayer money to the Board of Education. Leaders emphasized keeping projects for all nine schools on budget and on schedule while responding quickly to neighborhood concerns like parking, trash, and other community impacts.    

4. Paper Pals unfold their creativity at Kenilworth Library (unionnewsdaily.com) — A Westfield resident is among the crafters flocking to Kenilworth Public Library’s popular Paper Pals program, where adults meet three times a month to create handmade cards and paper art. The free sessions, supported by donations and a grant, offer local residents from Westfield and neighboring towns a creative outlet, new friendships, and an easy way to get involved in a nearby community activity.    

5. Bicycle, Backpack Reported Stolen in Westfield Last Week, Police Say (tapinto.net) — Two thefts in Westfield last week have police asking residents to stay alert: a $250 bicycle was taken from a Fair Hill Drive front lawn, and a backpack worth about $700 disappeared from Kehler Stadium’s bleachers. Both incidents occurred April 11 and remain under investigation.
