WESTFIELD, NJ — Upgrades are on the way for Westfield’s fire department facilities after the Town Council approved funding for roof repairs and interior renovations at its May 5 meeting.
The work includes roof repairs at both Westfield firehouses as well as interior improvements at Fire Headquarters, all of which were previously included in the town’s 2026 capital budget.
Mayor Jeremy Berman said the projects are part of a broader set of planned financial actions tied to infrastructure and facility maintenance.
“In addition to a handful of standard financial actions, we have two resolutions authorizing awards of contracts for improvements to the Westfield Fire Department, one for roof repairs at both fire houses and the other for interior renovations at Firehouse, one both of which were provided for in the 2026 capital budget,” Berman said.
The roofing work will be handled by Deegan Roofing of Plainfield, with a contract not to exceed $38,800. That project covers both Fire Headquarters and Fire Station II.
Interior renovations at Fire Headquarters will be completed by O’Connor Construction of Cranford under a contract capped at $50,150.
Council members approved both measures unanimously, moving forward with the planned improvements to the department’s facilities.
