PLAINFIELD, NJ — A 79-year-old Plainfield man died Tuesday evening following a head-on crash in Hunterdon County, according to authorities.
Police in Raritan Township said officers responded around 5:30 p.m. to Sergeantsville Road following reports of a serious crash involving a Honda Civic and a Ford Bronco.
According to investigators, the driver of the Honda Civic, a Plainfield resident, was found unconscious inside the vehicle with severe injuries. Officers removed him from the car and began lifesaving efforts before he was transported to Hunterdon Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities said the driver of the Ford Bronco, a 33-year-old Lambertville man, was outside the vehicle when officers arrived and did not appear to have serious injuries.
An eyewitness told police the Honda Civic was traveling north on Sergeantsville Road when it suddenly crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Bronco.
The crash remains under investigation by the Raritan Township Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
