WESTFIELD, NJ — Two of Westfield’s busiest athletic fields could soon be getting a major refresh.
Town officials announced plans for an $880,000 project to replace the aging turf fields at the Houlihan/Sid Fay sports complex, a popular destination for local youth sports and recreation programs.
Mayor Jeremy Berman said the fields have reached the end of their usable life after years of regular use by athletes and community groups.
The Houlihan/Sid Fay complex hosts a wide range of sports activities throughout the year and is frequently used by Westfield families for games, practices, and recreation.
Town officials said the expected cost of the replacement work is consistent with earlier budget discussions surrounding the project.
