Westfield Police: Scammers Sent Car to Take Elderly Couple to Bank (tapinto.net) — Westfield police are warning residents after scammers arranged a car to drive an elderly couple to their bank, then disappeared once officers got involved. The couple had received suspicious calls, texts, and emails from people posing as federal banking officials, and investigators are still checking whether any money or personal information was compromised.    

2. Westfield Parents Speak Out Over Class Sizes, Loss Of Program Space (patch.com) — Parents at Washington School in Westfield are pushing back against proposed fourth-grade class size increases and the loss of dedicated art and music rooms as the district reshuffles space for new programs. At this week’s Board of Education meeting, families urged officials to preserve smaller classes, keep arts spaces intact, and involve parents earlier and more transparently in planning decisions.    

3. Westfield Foundation Supports Summer Youth Employment Program (goleader.com) — The Westfield Foundation is funding 13 local nonprofits this summer so area students can gain paid work experience through its long-running Summer Youth Employment Program. Organizers say the Herberich Fund–backed effort helps teens build skills and confidence while strengthening nonprofits’ ability to serve the Westfield community.    

4. Westfield Board of Education Honors WHS Theater's Foxy Award Winners (tapinto.net) — Westfield High School theater students were publicly celebrated at this week’s Board of Education meeting for winning multiple Foxy Awards from Montclair State University’s Theatre Night Awards. Cast and crew from the fall play “Blue Stockings” and spring musical “Smile” shared how months of rehearsal, behind-the-scenes work, and strong support from teachers, parents, and peers led to their individual and group honors.
