WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Community Band’s annual Independence Day concert has been rescheduled due to ongoing extreme heat conditions expected to continue into the holiday week, according to officials.
Originally scheduled for July 2, the concert is now set for Thursday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the bandstand in Mindowaskin Park.
Westfield is under an extreme heat warning through July 4 at 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The performance remains free and open to the public. Residents planning to attend are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to the Westfield Community Room at the Municipal Building.
The program will feature patriotic selections and works by American composers, including “National Emblem,” “Americans We,” “America the Beautiful,” and “Memories of Stephen Foster,” according to event information.
The Westfield Community Band’s summer concert series is supported by the Westfield Recreation Department, with additional funding provided through the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, in partnership with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Further updates, if needed, are expected to be shared by officials ahead of the rescheduled performance.
