WESTFIELD, NJ — Some pieces of Westfield history are getting a second life.

The town is preparing to hold its second and final online auction featuring retired street signs that were removed by the Department of Public Works as part of recent replacements throughout the community.

The auction will include county road signs, signs that remained unsold from last year’s auction, and additional signs that were previously not included because of the first auction’s limit of 1,000 items.

Bidding begins Wednesday afternoon.

The upcoming sale follows Westfield’s first street sign auction in 2025, which gave residents the opportunity to purchase retired signs that once marked roads throughout town.

For residents who choose to purchase one, the signs can serve as a unique reminder of familiar streets, neighborhoods and locations that have been part of everyday life in Westfield.

The signs became available after the Department of Public Works replaced older street signs throughout the community.

The town has not announced how many signs will be available during the final auction or what prices individual signs may receive.

Residents interested in participating can access the online auction through the town’s website.

The upcoming sale will be the final opportunity for residents to purchase retired Westfield street signs.
