Flyers Track Club Sends Seven Athletes to USATF National Junior Olympic Championships

The Westfield Area YMCA Flyers Track Club delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 USATF Region 2 Track & Field Championships.

The Flyers Track Club delivered another outstanding performance at the 2026 USATF Region 2 Track & Field Championships, held July 9–12 at Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Region 2 Championship brought together the top youth athletes from New Jersey, Mid-Atlantic, Niagara, and Three Rivers, all competing for a coveted spot at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships. The top five finishers in each event earned the opportunity to advance to the national meet, which will be held July 27–August 2 at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California.

The Flyers rose to the challenge, qualifying six athletes across multiple age divisions and events while continuing the club's tradition of excellence on one of the region's biggest stages.

Leading the way was Greyson Dunleavy (9–10 Boys), who delivered a remarkable championship weekend. Greyson captured the Region 2 Championship title in the 1500m run, earning a first-place finish, while also qualifying for nationals in both the 800m run and long jump.

In the 7–8 Boys division, Jackson Sarvey earned his national qualification in the 800m run, continuing an impressive season of middle-distance racing.

The 13–14 Boys showcased exceptional depth for the Flyers. Connor Barrett qualified for nationals in the 800m run, while also setting a new Flyers Track Club record with a personal-best performance. Teammate Leo Anspach secured his trip to California with a qualifying performance in the 3000m run.

On the girls' side, Catalina Herits (9–10 Girls) earned her place at nationals in the 1500m run, while Sandra Jakubiuk (13–14 Girls) continued her outstanding distance season by qualifying in the 3000m run.
