WESTFIELD, NJ — A new New Jersey law regulating e-bikes officially took effect Sunday, bringing new requirements for certain riders across the state.
The Westfield Police Department is encouraging e-bike riders and their families to review the new rules before heading out on the road.
Officials said enforcement of the law has begun and reminded riders to make sure they meet any applicable licensing, registration, insurance and other legal requirements.
To help residents understand the changes, the department has posted an overview of the new law along with additional information and resources on its website.
The department said the goal is to help riders understand the updated requirements while promoting safe riding throughout the community.
