Fraud, Suspicious Vehicle, Warrant Arrests In Westfield

Westfield Police released its blotter for the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Fraud, a suspicious vehicle, and warrant arrests were reported recently in Westfield.

On July 20 at 9 a.m.: A resident in the 500 block of Prospect Street states that they were alerted by a credit monitoring company of a personal data breach. Further investigation showed that a fraudulent credit card account was opened using the victim's personal information. At the time of this report, the victim has not suffered a monetary loss.

On July 21 at 1 p.m.: A resident of the 500 block of Birch Avenue reported a suspicious incident. An unknown suspect parked a black colored SUV in the victim's driveway behind their 2026 white colored Lexus SUV. The suspect then tried to open the driver's side door handle of the Lexus, which was locked. The suspect then left the area without incident.

On July 22 at 9:35 p.m.: Autumn Dobbins, 24, of Westfield, was placed under arrest on the 400 block of East South Avenue under the strength of a no-bail warrant out of the Linden Municipal Court. She was processed and turned over to the Linden Police Department.

On July 23 at 8:44 a.m.: Jon Benitez, 35, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested pursuant to ACS warrant in connection with a residential burglary investigation stemming from an incident that occurred on June 2. Following processing, Benitez was charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree theft. He was taken to the Union County Jail pending further court proceedings.

On July 23 at 10 a.m.: Juan Tabares Alzate, 24, of North Plainfield, was placed under arrest on the strength of two outstanding confirmed ATS warrants, Fanwood Municipal Court and Watchung Municipal Court, pursuant to a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Avenue and Central Avenue. Alzate Tabares was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed and released on his own recognizance.

On July 24 at 11:11 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 600 block of South Chestnut Street. Officers found two active warrants: ATS Warrant out of Cranford Municipal Court for $500 and a NCIC - No Bail Warrant out of Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office for the driver, Kristopher Legones, 39, of Westfield. Legones was arrested and taken to Westfield Police Headquarters. Legones was processed and received a new court date for his active ATS warrant. Legones was then taken to Middlesex County Sheriff's on his active NCIC warrant out of Middlesex.
