WESTFIELD, NJ — A driver was charged with DWI following a crash, warrant arrests and a lawnmower theft was reported in Westfield recently.
Westfield Police Blotter – Aug. 2 to 8:
On Aug. 3 at 10:31 p.m.: Dayana M. Cumbaljitala, 31, of West New York, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding ATS warrant issued by the Teaneck Municipal Court for $1,000 pursuant to a traffic stop on East South Avenue, near Sussex Street. Cumbaljitala was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters for arrest processing. She was released on her own recognizance and ordered to appear before the Teaneck Municipal Court on a future date.
On Aug. 4 at 10 p.m.: Alexander E. Cuevas-Silverio, 24, of Elizabeth, was arrested for DWI, hindering apprehension, and one outstanding ATS warrant issued by the Alpha Municipal Court, on the 400 block of North Euclid Avenue pursuant to a traffic stop for an observed motor vehicle violation. Cuevas-Silverio was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters for arrest processing. Cuevas-Silverio was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear before the Alpha Municipal Court. He was also issued summonses to appear before the Westfield Municipal Court for the DWI, traffic offenses, and hindering charges.
On Aug. 4 at 11:46 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the area of Clark Street and Ferris Place for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Pursuant to a crash investigation, officers arrested David Gigiel, 35, of Fanwood, for DWI. He was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, processed, and released to a sober adult upon the issuance of summonses.
On Aug. 4 at 5:06 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 100 block of East Broad Street on a report of a past-occurred shoplifting. The suspect stole clothing items valued at approximately $1,299.
On Aug. 6 at 3:06 p.m.: A resident reports the theft of a bicycle from Mindowaskin Park by an unknown male suspect who fled the area. Officers located the stolen bicycle a short distance away.
On Aug. 7 at 9:30 a.m.: A resident in the 600 block of Kensington Drive reports the theft of a lawn mower that was left in the driveway of a home near the roadway. Unknown suspects left the area in a black colored pickup truck.
On Aug. 5: Pursuant to an investigation into the theft of a wallet and the unauthorized use of a credit card that occurred on April 22, at a business located in the 200 block of East Broad Street, Luis Nunez-Miranda, 23, of Edison, was issued a complaint summons, charging him with theft of movable property and theft by deception with a future court date.
On Aug. 8 at 10:31 p.m.: Kane Jahaad, 31, of Linden, was arrested on an active ACS warrant following an investigation into a neighbor dispute. Kane was processed and released on his own recognizance with instructions to contact Elizabeth Municipal Court regarding his court date.
On Aug. 8 at 11:17 p.m.: Tybree Darby, 21, of Westfield, was arrested at the 3000 block of Echo Lane for disorderly conduct, following an on-scene investigation. Darby was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, processed, and released on a summons.
