WESTFIELD, NJ — A Cranford man was charged after police say he was tampering with a Flock camera in town.
On Aug. 11 at 4:57 p.m., Westfield Police Officers went to the 300 block of Massachusetts Street for a report of someone tampering with a Flock camera.
Flock cameras use artificial intelligence to capture vehicle information from public spaces, including license plates, vehicle characteristics and other identifying details. Police departments and local governments can use the systems to search vehicle data.
Maxim Drobitskiy, 20, of Cranford, was arrested following an investigation by responding officers.
Drobistsky was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters for arrest processing, where he was charged with criminal mischief and released with a summons to appear before the Union County Superior Court.
Westfield Police Blotter – Aug. 9 to Aug. 15:
On Aug. 9 at 5:40 p.m.: An employee of a business located on the 300 block of East South Avenue reports that two unknown suspects shoplifted several items. Two men entered the business then took and concealed four bottles of tequila. The total value of items taken was $137.96.
On Aug. 10 at 6:35 p.m.: A victim in the 600 block of Central Avenue reported being contacted by people claiming to represent a utility company and was instructed to make multiple payments to prevent a service interruption. The victim later contacted the utility company and learned that the payments had not been applied to the account and were believed to be fraudulent. The victim reported an approximate financial loss of $3,000.
On Aug. 10 at 6:49 p.m.: A victim in the 300 block of N. Euclid Avenue reported that a check intended for a legitimate recipient was deposited into an unknown account without authorization. The victim contacted the financial institution and the United States Postal Service regarding the incident and reported an approximate financial loss of $17,500.
On Aug. 10 at 9:44 p.m.: Officer Bace conducted a motor vehicle stop on East South Avenue by Windsor Avenue after observing multiple vehicle equipment violations. During the investigation, officers determined the driver, Roody Borgella, 23, of Roselle, had an active warrant out of Paterson Municipal Court. The driver was released on a roadside ROR and provided with a new court date.
On Aug. 10 at 10:04 p.m.: Rayshon Wallace, 33, of Orange, responded to Westfield Police Headquarters to surrender herself. She was subsequently placed under arrest on the strength of three outstanding ATS warrants issued by the Westfield, Union, and Springfield Municipal Courts. Wallace was released by the Westfield Municipal Court after posting bail. She was released on her own recognizance by the Springfield and Union Municipal Courts and instructed to appear before the respective courts at a future date.
On Aug. 11 at 1:58 p.m.: Akmed Sheriff, 31, of Elizabeth, was picked up at Elizabeth Police headquarters for an outstanding warrant out of Westfield Municipal Court for a criminal offense. Sheriff was taken and processed at the Westfield Police Department, where he was ultimately sent to Essex County Correctional Facility pending a first appearance court date.
On Aug. 11 at 2:48 p.m.: A resident of the 500 block of West Broad Street reports that an unknown woman has been using her home address fraudulently for identification purposes. The victim's address appears on identifying documents, including an issued driver's license depicting an unknown woman. The incidents have been occurring for several years
On Aug. 13 at 2:47 p.m.: Jahlek Menard, 27, of Jamaica, NY, was placed under arrest for knowingly exhibiting a false document issued by a government agency and purposely obstructing the administration of law enforcement related to a bank fraud. Menard was placed under arrest, taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, and released with a Union County Superior Court date.
On Aug. 13 at 5:34 p.m.: Nicholas Oulch, 34, of Garwood, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated pursuant to an investigation on Tremont Avenue near South Euclid Avenue. He was processed and released to a sober adult.
On Aug. 14 at 9:19 a.m.: A resident in the 200 block of Watchung Fork states that about $17,000.00 was transferred from her checking account into another account without her knowledge or permission.
