Union County Notary Training Seminar Planned In September

The Union County Clerk's Office plans a Sept. 18 seminar on notary duties, applications and legal requirements.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The Union County Clerk's Office will host a Notary Public Training Seminar on Friday, Sept. 18, at the John H. Stamler Police Academy in Scotch Plains.

The seminar is scheduled from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. at 1776 Raritan Road.

According to the announcement, the featured speaker will be Union County First Deputy County Counsel Moshood Muftau, Esq.

Deputy County Clerk Clara C. Fernández is scheduled to make opening remarks. The program will focus on the legal aspects of the functions of notaries public.

The seminar will cover the Notary Public application process, along with new legal requirements and responsibilities, according to the announcement.

It will also address the steps for proper notarization and other topics, including how to complete a notary journal and how to examine identification documents.

Space is limited to the first 50 registrants. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 1, or until openings are filled.

A $10 registration fee is required in advance to secure a spot, and that fee includes a light breakfast.

The event will be held at the John H. Stamler Police Academy, where a business casual dress code is strictly enforced, according to the announcement.

Attendees are advised that jeans and sneakers are not permitted, and men must wear shirts with collars.
