WESTFIELD, NJ — A drunk driver was arrested in connection with two crashes in Westfield, according to the police blotter.
On Aug. 21 at 6:19 p.m., Vaughn Crowe, 45, of Irvington, was arrested at E. Broad Street and W. North Avenue for driving while intoxicated.
Westfield Police Officers went to the area of the South Avenue Traffic Circle, where they reportedly investigated two separate motor vehicle crashes involving Crowe.
Crowe was processed at Westfield Police Headquarters and issued the following motor vehicle summonses with a mandatory Westfield Municipal Court date:

On Aug. 19 at 5:16 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of East North Avenue for a reported shoplifting. Officers located a man matching the suspect's description a short time later at a nearby business. The man, identified as Louis Padilla, 48, of South Plainfield, was found with merchandise reported stolen and was arrested. During a search, officers also found suspected drug paraphernalia. Padilla was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia and was lodged at the Essex County Jail pending court proceedings.
On Aug. 20 at 8:20 p.m.: Bennie Robinson, 63, Orange, was arrested in the 400 block of Springfield Avenue on the strength of two active warrants pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. Robinson had an active warrant out of South Orange Municipal Court for $1,000 and Mount Laurel for $600. Robinson was taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed and released with RORs for both of these warrants.
On Aug. 22 at 11:27 p.m.: Xhunaxhy Lopez Cruz, 24, of Rahway, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Saint Paul Street by Lenox Avenue. She was processed and released with a mandatory Westfield Municipal Court date
On Aug. 23 at 2:02 a.m.: Alshon Carter, 23, of Irvington, was placed under arrest at Central Avenue and E. South Avenue for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop. During the investigation, Carter was additionally charged with manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing a controlled dangerous substance. Carter was issued a Union County Superior Court summons and released pending a future court appearance.
