WESTFIELD, NJ — Downtown Westfield Corporation will extend the summer season with Sweet Sounds Encore.
A four-night series of themed live entertainment on Quimby Street throughout September.
The events are scheduled for Sept. 4, Sept. 10, Sept. 18 and Sept. 25, with all performances running from 6 to 9 p.m. each night in downtown Westfield.
"We're excited about this year's Encore lineup and intentionally designed each night to have its own energy and personality," said Daniel Taugher, Executive Director of Downtown Westfield Corporation. "September feels like a homecoming in Westfield, and these four evenings give our community a chance to reconnect, enjoy live music and spend time together downtown."
The series opens Friday, Sept. 4, with Scarlet Magnolia, a band bringing the music of the Grateful Dead to Quimby Street.
According to the event announcement, the performance will feature familiar songs and improvisational energy in what Downtown Westfield Corporation described as a relaxed evening for outdoor live music.
On Thursday, Sept. 10, the series shifts to Country Night with Nikki Briar & the Sweet Briar Band.
DanceFix will lead country line dancing during the event, and no previous experience is necessary. The organization said attendees will be encouraged to join in and learn the steps.
Friday, Sept. 18, will feature Yacht Rock Night with New Yacht City performing music from the 1970s and '80s.
Captain's hats will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The final night, Friday, Sept. 25, will close the series with Shake Rattle & Roll Pianos.
Downtown Westfield Corporation said the dueling-pianos performance will include requests, sing-alongs and audience participation.
The organization is encouraging guests to arrive downtown before performances to browse local shops and have dinner or drinks.
Adults 21 and older can enjoy beer, wine and cocktails outdoors on Quimby Street during the event.
Alcoholic beverages will not be sold by or through the event, and attendees may bring their own beverages or obtain them through permitted establishments and retailers in accordance with Town of Westfield regulations.
