Students will be stationed around downtown on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., collecting donations to support the program.

During the two-day fundraiser, marching band members will hold their shako hats as collection points while inviting community members to contribute.

The hats are described as a familiar symbol of the band's tradition and spirit, and the event is intended to bring students face to face with the community that supports them throughout the year.

According to the event information, every contribution will go directly toward supporting the Westfield High School Marching Band.

The fundraiser helps provide students with opportunities, resources and experiences connected to the marching band season.

Residents who cannot make it downtown will still have a way to give. The band is also offering an online donation option through Venmo at @whsnjbpa.
