Funeral Procession Crash Seriously Injures Motorcycle Officer In Union County

LINDEN, NJ — A Linden Police Officer was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash while participating in a funeral procession on Monday morning.

Shortly before 11 a.m., the officer was driving on Roselle Street on a marked police motorcycle when it collided with a Ford van that was entering a private driveway, said Linden Police.

The officer was taken to University Hospital in Newark with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the van was not injured.

Roselle Street remains closed between Ziegler Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route, said police.

The crash remains under investigation by the Union County Police Traffic Bureau.
