Westfield Moves To Restrict Turns Near Elementary School

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield is moving to add new turn restrictions on Newton Place near Franklin school property.

The Town Council will be voting on the second reading of an ordinance at its Tuesday meeting that would add one left-turn prohibition and one right-turn-only movement.

Under the ordinance, left turns would be prohibited "northeast on Newton Place to west on horseshoe on Franklin school property."

Additionally, the same ordinance would also only allow right turns at the intersection of Newton Place and Prospect Street.

"Right lane only Southwest on Newton Place to northwest on Prospect Street," according to the ordinance.

The ordinance was introduced at the Sept. 8 Council meeting and a second and final hearing will be held on Tuesday.
