The Westfield Memorial Library is pleased to announce that the latest limited-edition library cards designed by four previous artists-in-residence are now available to new and established library cardholders. They can be obtained at the Circulation desk of the library, located at 550 East Broad Street.
The cards, which feature artwork by Sam Mooney, Kelly Renee Arte, William Palm and Shen Rosen, are free to anyone who signs up for a new library card.
Only 200 each of these custom cards have been issued, and they are available for a limited time only. Existing cardholders can purchase one as a replacement for $2.00, but all replacement cards will have new library card numbers.
The Artist-in-Residence program brings Westfield's talented local artists to the library for the entire community to enjoy through talks, hands-on workshops, studio sessions and exhibitions. The artists apply to and are chosen by the Westfield Art Association, a non-profit volunteer organization founded in 1922 that provides public art education and public exhibitions with work from its member artists.
"Our partnership with the Westfield Art Association allows us to host talented local artists who not only want to showcase their artwork but also connect with the community through workshops and in-library studio sessions," said Liz Kennedy, Associate Director. "We are thrilled to be able to offer the work of recent artists-in-residence on these special cards."
Visit the library's website at https://wmlnj.org/ to register for programs, sign up for a library card, or learn more about the library's resources. Library hours are Monday - Thursday 9:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; and Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. The library will be open on Monday, October 13, Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
