Bike Worth $2,300 Stolen In Westfield, And More Police Items

WESFIELD — The Westfield police released information on these incidents from their files in the last two weeks:

Pricy bike stolen

Last Thursday, at 4:31 p.m., a resident of Saint Marks Avenue said that someone had broken into a detatched garage and stole the person's bicycle. The bike was last seen on Sept. 26. The Surface 604 Shred electric bicycle was matte black in color with white and red accents. It also had a color display screen affixed to the handlebars, a LED headlight, hydraulic brakes, and extra wide tires with white lettering.

The approximate value of the bike was $2,300. The victim reported that a bicycle lock was also stolen. The lock was valued at $30.

False ID charges

Also last Thursday, at 7:49 p.m., police at Mindowaskin Park arrested two young women, charging both with possession of false government ID.

According to police, Officers Carrero and DiBella made a "pedestrian stop" in the park that evening. They arrested Nicole Catalano, 20, of Scotch Plains and Eden Coetzee, 19, of Scotch Plains.

Catalano's charges were possession of false government ID, possession of synthetic cannabinoid, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance under 50 grams.

Coetzee was charged with possession of false government ID. Both were processed and released with a summons.

Credit card purchase

On Sept. 29 at 10:41 a.m., a Hillcrest Ave. resident told police that someone had used her credit card account to make an online purchase in the amount of $2,883.

Police said, "The victim contacted her financial institution who advised them of other fraudulent attempts. The victim did not suffer a financial loss."
