Body Found Near Train Tracks In Union County, NJ Transit Police Investigate

The Raritan Valley train line was temporarily suspended for the investigation.

PLAINFIELD, NJ — A body was found near train tracks in Plainfield on Wednesday night, prompting an investigation.

At around 9:16 p.m. on Wednesday, a body was reported near the tracks west of Plainfield Station, near New Street Bridge.

New Jersey Transit Police found the body on the right-of-way near the tracks, according to NJ Transit Sr. Public Information Officer Kyalo Mulumba.

The Raritan Valley train line was temporarily suspended for the investigation, but has since resumed.

New Jersey Transit Police are continuing to investigate to determine if the person was hit by a train.
