Burger Joint To Bring Vegan Options, Rooftop Bar To Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ - Those hankering for local, organic and sustainable burgers, shakes, salads, fries, and sides will have more than "your earth-loving mouths can handle" come spring when Bareburger opens its doors on Central Avenue .

According to Mayor Shelley Brindle, the restaurant will be opening in the old Coldwater Creek space, located at 126 Central Ave and will have an entrance across from the Banana Republic.

"I’m very excited to announce that Bareburger, a high end burger, vegan restaurant with a full bar will be opening in the Coldwater Creek space," Brindle said.

Bareburger is a restaurant that touts a partnership with farmers and vendors to create clean comfort food accessible for everyone. According to their website, every burger, salad and sandwich starts by working closely with a network of sustainable farmers and partners and ends with a menu that is over one-third vegetarian and plant-based.

"So all you carnivorous, veggie-heads, and gluten-haters come hang at our place," the site says.

Beyond the food, Bareburger restaurants are built with reclaimed and recycled materials.

"Many folks may already be familiar with Bareburger locations in the city, as well as in Montclair and Ridgewood," Brindle said.

At the meeting of the Mayor and Council Tuesday, the governing body approved a liquor license transfer for what is estimated to be a late spring opening.

"They will be a fantastic addition to town and will enliven a space that has been vacant for too long," Brindle said. "And yes, they are planning on a rooftop bar and dining."
