In keeping with its longtime traditions, the Hale Speaker Series will return soon for the 17th year with talks by four individuals with strong ties to Westfield.

The series begins on Wednesday, May 13, with a speech titled “Westfield…The Old Days,” by one of the town’s most noted residents, Warren Rorden. A 1954 graduate of Westfield High School and a veteran realtor, Rorden will relate what he enjoys most about the town.

The hour-long Hale talks, held at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Westfield Memorial Library, are free and open to the public with pre-registration. The programs also are available on WML YouTube.

The speakers are introduced by committee member Barbara Hale, whose father, Lee, founded the series after his late wife, Anne. After his passing, the series was renamed in both of their honors.

Other committee members include Marcy Lechner, chairman; Linnea Rhodes, Mary Orlando, Sherry Cronin, Ellen Albertson and Tina Lesher.

The series, hosted by The Friends of Westfield Memorial Library, receives grants from The Anne and Lee Hale Fund and The Glasser Foundation.
