Invited speaker Sarah Sangree is the Director of Community Engagement of St. Hubert’s.She will describe how for over 85 years St. Hubert’s has been dedicated to helping animals in need and has adopted out close to 3,000 animals a year. The center aids New Jersey communities that have programs for helping animals stay with their families. They have pet food banks, vaccine clinics, and emergency pet boarding. Temple Sholom Seeks Religious School Teachers for 2026–2027 School Year
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Temple Sholom, a warm and welcoming Reform congregation in Union County, is hiring teachers for its Religious School for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year, with openings across three grade levels.
The synagogue is seeking a 5th Grade Religious School Teacher to lead a small class on Tuesdays from 3:45 to 6:30 PM, September through May. The role includes teaching Judaic studies using the school's curriculum, with support from a classroom aide, and regular communication with parents and clergy. Candidates should bring warmth, patience, and enthusiasm for working with children, along with basic Judaic knowledge; a background check is required.
A 7th Grade Religious School Teacher is also needed to lead a small class of teens on a monthly Sunday schedule, October through May. Responsibilities include teaching Judaic studies, maintaining regular communication with parents and clergy, and completing a background check. The role calls for warmth, patience, and enthusiasm for working with teens, along with basic Judaic knowledge.
Additionally, Temple Sholom is looking for a Sunday School Teacher for its Preschool program (ages 3–5), meeting Sundays from 9:00 to 11:30 AM, September through May. This teacher will create a nurturing, age-appropriate environment introducing young children to Jewish values, holidays, and traditions, supported by a classroom aide. Experience in early childhood education is preferred, and Judaic knowledge is helpful but not required; a background check is mandatory.
Compensation for all positions is commensurate with experience.
