Car Crashes Into Townhouse, Residents Evacuated In Union County
The car crashed through an internal wall in the garage and also damaged the gas and water lines, according to Summit officials.
SUMMIT, NJ — A car crashed into a townhouse prompting residents to be evacuated on Wednesday, said Summit officials.
On Sept. 25 at around 9:43 a.m., Summit police and fire departments went to a report of a motor vehicle crash at a townhouse building on Norwood Avenue.
Emergency responders found that a resident's vehicle had crashed through an internal wall in the garage, causing mild structural damage, said officials.

The gas and water lines in the unit were also damaged as a result of the crash, according to officials.
No injuries were reported, but one of the two people in the car was taken to Overlook Medical Center by Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad for evaluation.

The other five units in the building were evacuated until the gas line was shut off. All residents from these additional units have since been able to return to the building after the units were evaluated and deemed safe by a city construction official.
The unit where the crash occurred remains unsafe for reentry at this time due to the reported structural damage.
