Car Slams Into Union County Apartment Building, Driver And Passenger Run, Police Say

The apartment building was inspected after the crash and deemed safe for residents.

ROSELLE PARK, NJ — A car crashed into a Roselle Park apartment building early Tuesday morning, and the two people inside left the scene before they were identified, according to police.

The crash happened around 1:10 a.m. at Mi Place, an apartment complex on Westfield Avenue West.

Police said a black Volkswagen Atlas was reported to have come into Roselle Park from neighboring Kenilworth before it crashed into the building.

After the crash, the driver and a passenger left the vehicle and left the area on foot, according to police. Neither had been identified as of Tuesday morning.

The borough’s building inspector also responded to the scene to assess the structure for damage.

Officials later determined the building was safe, and residents were allowed to remain in their apartments.
