Carjacking Suspect Remains At Large In Union County

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — A carjacking suspect remains at large on Wednesday, said police in an update.

"No arrest has been made in this morning's car jacking. Police are continuing their investigation," said police in an updated alert around 12:30 p.m. "As always please remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to police. Continue to lock your vehicles and remove the key fobs and valuables."

Police initially sent out an alert about a search in the area of Route 22 near Echo Lake Park in Mountainside for a carjacking suspect around 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police described the suspect as a black man wearing red shorts, a black hooded sweatshirt, and black sneakers. He is also wearing a checkerboard pattern face mask.

The suspect's direction of where he ran away is unknown.

"Please remain inside and lock your doors," said police.

The public is asked to report any suspicious activity or people matching the clothing description to police at 908-232-8100.
