Child Injured After HVAC Part Falls Through Ceiling At Westfield Day Care
Around 50 children and staff members were evacuated from the daycare on Thursday afternoon, said Westfield officials.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A child was injured at a daycare in Westfield after a component of the building's HVAC machinery fell through the ceiling on Thursday, according to Westfield officials.
A partial roof collapse was reported at the Westfield Day Care Center at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Thursday afternoon.
Westfield first responders found that a component of the building's HVAC machinery fell through the ceiling into a second-floor classroom, said Town of Westfield, New Jersey.

Around 50 children and staff members were evacuated to Roosevelt Intermediate School.
One child was treated and released, following minor injuries from a falling ceiling tile, said officials.

No other injuries were reported and the building will remain closed for the remainder of the day.
The Town's Construction Official is on-site but there appears to be no structural damage to the building at this time.
"Thank you to our Police, Fire, and EMS professionals for their swift response. All children are safe and accounted for, and will be released to their families from Roosevelt School," said Town of Westfield, New Jersey.
