Council Celebrates State Champion Boys Tennis Team
Acting Mayor Ciarocca hands out awards on behalf of Mayor Skibitsky.
The members of Westfield High School's boys tennis team received official congratulations from the Town Council for winning the state championship earlier this month
Each team member received on Tuesday a proclamation from Mayor Andy Skibitsky, handed out by Acting Mayor Mark Ciarrocca, and a plaque for their acheivement from Westfield head coach George H. Kapner.
The team is ranked as one of the top boys tennis teams in New Jersey. The team's last state championship occurred in 2007. The team's senior captains, Scott Bernstein, Adam Reich, Graeme Stahl and Justin Snyder, are among the few boys tennis players in New Jersey history to capture two state championships during their high school careers.

As a part of the team's championship season this year, they won the group championship for the fourth time in a row, earning a place in state history.
The team's contributions were also celebrated across town at the Board of Education meeting, where board members announced the state championship and noted the championship played a role in Westfield athletics being awarded top honors from ShopRite in their sports championship for the year.
