Crash Into Car, Telephone Pole Sends Cop To Hospital During Burglary Response In Union Co.
The officer was responding to a call for a suspicious person wearing a mask and gloves when the crash happened on Saturday.
KENILWORTH, NJ — A Kenilworth officer was taken to a hospital following a crash with another car and telephone pole while responding to a home burglary on Saturday.
On March 8 at 12:11 p.m., Patrolman Marcus Trotman was responding to a call for a suspicious person wearing a mask and gloves on Wilshire Drive in Kenilworth.
"Trotman expedited his response to the call due to a heightened state of alertness for occupied home burglaries," said Kenilworth Detective Sgt. Brian Pickton.

While driving to the call and using his lights and sirens, Troman was involved in a motor vehicle crash with his marked patrol car at the intersection of Boulevard and Coolidge Drive.
The patrol vehicle also collided with a telephone pole during the crash, said Pickton.

"Thankfully, the other motorist involved was not injured," said Pickton.
Trotman was taken to Overlook Hospital for an evaluation and then released.
