Criminal Sexual Contact, Car Theft Attempt In Westfield: Police

WESTFIELD, NJ - A 21-year-old East Orange man was arrested and charged with burglary, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, and criminal sexual contact on Oct. 1, according to Chief of Police Christopher Battiloro.

Quinn Mayweather was picked up by Westfield Police after being located on Mountain Avenue by Mountainside Police after the incident, authorities said.

The Westfield Police responded to a call report from the a woman who said she found Mayweather inside her car parked on Mountainview Terrace shortly before 2:45 p.m., Battiloro said. When she confronted him, the woman was grabbed inappropriately by Mayweather before he left the scene, police said.

After Mountainside Police found Mayweather in the area of Tanglewood Lane, he was arrested by Westfield Police and brought to the station where he was processed, served with a complaint-warrant, and committed to the Union County Jail in Elizabeth, police said.

Mayweather will be subject to a first appearance hearing in Superior Court within 48 hours to determine if pre-trial release from custody or continued detention is appropriate, police said.
