Dog That Attacked Officer Shot Dead In Union County

LINDEN, NJ — A dog was shot dead after attacking a police officer in Linden on Friday morning.

Just before 11 a.m. on June 2, Linden Police Officers got a call to check on the welfare of multiple dogs.

Officers followed an involved party to the 600 block of Dewitt Street, where, during the course of the investigation, officers were attacked by one of the dogs, said Linden Police.

Another officer fired their weapon one time, killing the dog, said police.

This incident remains under investigation, and additional information will not be released at this time.

"We ask for residents to remain patient and stay clear of the area," said police.
