Dunkin' Employee Scares Off Burglar, Police Chase Leads To Arrest In Union County

A Scotch Plains man was arrested in connection with a burglary at a Dunkin' in Springfield on Monday morning, said police.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A Scotch Plains man was arrested in connection with a burglary at a Dunkin' in Springfield on Monday morning, said police.

Early Monday morning, Springfield Police responded to two commercial burglaries reported at the FedEx and Dunkin' along the Route 22 corridor.

The investigation determined there was no loss from FedEx, but a sum of cash was stolen from Dunkin', said Springfield Police Department.

An employee of Dunkin' interrupted the burglary and scared off the suspect, who fled on Route 22, said police.

The employee gave police detailed information about the suspect, which was broadcast to neighboring jurisdictions.

Union Police found the suspect, engaged in a foot pursuit, and captured the suspect who was placed under arrest. The cash proceeds from the Dunkin' burglary were recovered, said police.

The suspect, a 26-year-old mam from Scotch Plains, was charged and has been remanded to Union County Jail pending a court appearance.
