Early Voting Begins In Union County Ahead Of June Primary

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Early voting for New Jersey’s 2026 primary election officially began Tuesday across Union County, giving residents nearly a week to cast ballots before Election Day.

According to the Union County Board of Elections, registered voters can vote in person at any of the county’s 10 early voting locations through Sunday, May 31.

“Making a plan to vote is important, and there are now more options in New Jersey than ever before,” Board of Elections Administrator Nicole DiRado said in a statement announcing the start of early voting.

Locations are spread throughout Union County, including sites in Cranford, Plainfield, Rahway, Roselle, Scotch Plains, Berkeley Heights, Elizabeth, New Providence, and Union Township.

Officials said voters will check in using an electronic poll book before receiving access to the correct ballot on a voting machine.

Early voting hours run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with voting available Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Election Day is Tuesday, June 2. Officials reminded voters planning to cast ballots in person on Election Day that they must vote at their assigned polling location.

The county also noted that vote-by-mail ballots cannot be submitted at early voting locations. Instead, voters can return mail ballots through secure county drop boxes, by mail, or directly to the Board of Elections office in Elizabeth by 8 p.m. on June 2.
