Emergency Lines Go Down In Union County After Massive Verizon Outage
Thousands of call centers were down across the United States.
UPDATE: The Verizon network issues have been resolved, Union County officials said.
WESTFIELD, NJ — At least one 9-1-1 center in Union County is down due to a Verizon outage in the United States.
The Town of Westfield Police Department said its center is one of more than 6,000 emergency departments that are affected throughout the country.

If you are in an emergency and 9-1-1 does not connect, dial 908-789-4000 option 0 to reach police, the department said.
Union County leaders are also warning residents in other neighborhoods of the potential impact in their areas. Officials were warned by Verizon that there may be issues.

The County said callers should utilize their local department's 10-digit non-emergency number or send a text message to 9-1-1 detailing the emergency.
"We are aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers," Verizon said Wednesday on X.
Other sporadic outages were also reported by T-Mobile users throughout the Garden State.
