(October 3, 2011) – On Saturday, October 15 at 10:30 a.m., the Westfield Memorial Library is pleased to present, “Going Bat-ty: Learn all about Bats.” The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.
Jackie Kashmer, Director of the New Jersey Bat Sanctuary, shows the audience several real bats and explains their behavior and everything about them. She covers such things as the different colors of bats, their importance to a healthy environment, and steps to take if one if found.

Ms. Kashmer became a wildlife rehabilitator 20 years ago, re-habbing small mammals and songbirds. Six years ago she began to concentrate solely on bats when she realized that large rehab centers could not always provide the necessary care and feeding of a baby bat, which is the size of a thumbnail.

Since bats play such a vital role in the health of our environment, their care cannot be taken lightly. Bring your questions and be prepared to change your mind about bats.
