Strike A Pose Bake sale and Registration at WNC

            There are still spots open for the modeling and etiquette classes at the Westfield Neighborhood Council. Strike a Pose Studio and Social Graces organization will be facilitating the classes for ages 5yrs. and up.

            Westfield Neighborhood Council member Tina Whitfield was instrumental in getting the organization to the center because she wanted to have an activity to give adolescences and teens self-esteem. The mother of three is very active in the center and hopes that the community will support this program.

            On May 28, there will be a bake sale fundraiser at the Westfield Neighborhood Council from 10a.m.-4 p.m. The WNC is looking for donations of baked items for the sale. Those interested in donating can contact Tina Whitfield at (908) 414- 0447. Cakes, cookies and other baked goods will be on sale to help fund this program.

 

Classes will be held at the Westfield Neighborhood Council starting on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 11:00am. This is an 8 week program that includes the following services: Runway w/Poise and Confidence, Model Manners, Make Over, Strike A Pose Logo T-Shirt, Achievement Certificate and a Fashion Show scheduled in the fall. The cost for the classes and the fashion show is $120.00

            Participants will learn social graces and how to be confident. Classes will cover the basics in fashion design, etiquette and presentation skills. The classes will culminate into a fashion show where participants will model clothing designed by high end designers Donna Byrd, Vernest Moore and Cocoa Kidtoure.

            Childhood friends Tori Carter, Founder and Lorraine Turner-Cruz both from Jersey City are the owners and operators of Strike A Pose. Their studio is based in Jersey City and they recently hosted the first annual Strike A Pose Fashion show in Jersey City that was well-attended and covered. Carter is a Hudson County Sheriff Officer that has done many self-esteem programs for the youths at the detention center where she works. Turner-Cruz is pursuing a doctorate in education leadership and has been a mentor to young people for years.

            “We are a positive resource that is designed to provide your child with the ability to enhance their full potential,” said founder Carter. “Our professional instructors will train the models by using special techniques to build self -esteem, character, and motivation skills.”
