The place is the seedy side of St. Louis in a meager apartment located next to an alley and dance hall.
The players are Amanda Wingfield, a loving, but overbearing mother who clings to another time and place, the south of the past. Her picture of the world of gentlemen callers for her daughter Laura, who is shy, introverted, and crippled is not a reality in the ghettos of St. Louis. Trapped by a mindless job in a warehouse to support his family is Tom, the poetic, frustrated son. The power of this drama resides in this family’s struggle between delusion and reality.
The Glass Menagerie is directed by Fred Cuozzo of Green Brook, produced by Lucille Bills of Scotch Plains, and stage managed by Barbara Ruban of Springfield. The actors include Brian Remo, Mary Dolan Flaherty, Kristina Hernandez, and Mike Burdick.
Performance dates are March 10, 17, 23, and 24 at 8:00 pm and March 18 at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 with a special price of $10.00 for students. Reservations can be made by calling the box office at 908-232-1221.
