Westfield Memorial Library to present Hitchcock: The Master of Suspense

Just what made Alfred Hitchcock's films so revolutionary? Find out on Saturday, January 28 at the Westfield Memorial Library, located at 550 East Broad Street.   Chris Messineo, Director of the NJ Film Institute, narrates an audiovisual presentation at 2:00 p.m. of some of the master's best movies. He discusses Sir Alfred Hitchcock's unique style and the memorable quality of all of his films. He directed over 60 of them, spanning more than half a century.   With a distinctive style, both in front and behind the camera, his movies influenced generations of film makers. Watching classic scenes from "Rear Window," "North by Northwest," "Psycho," and "The Birds," audience members learn what made Hitchcock, "the master of suspense."   Mr. Messineo also shares scenes from classic films and anecdotes about their making, while dissecting the work of the master with wit and insight into the craft of film making. The presenter is an award-winning filmmaker, a fanatical student of cinema and an accomplished lecturer.   The program, which has been re-scheduled from last October, is free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries. Check our website to see if your library participates.)
