Facebook Marketplace Scam Costs Westfield Resident $1.5K
A Westfield woman reported unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account after sharing financial information during an online transaction.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A Westfield resident reported losing about $1,500 after a Facebook Marketplace transaction led to unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account.
The incident was reported April 30.
Police said the woman shared banking information with an unknown person during an online payment exchange connected to Facebook Marketplace.

Multiple withdrawals were later made from the victim’s accounts, resulting in a reported loss of $1,499.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
