Fall Fishing Derby For Persons With Disabilities Planned In Union County

The free Sept. 19 event at Echo Lake Park requires advance registration through Union County.

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — Union County will hold its Fall Fishing Derby for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Echo Lake Park in Mountainside.

The free event, being presented by the Union County Board of County Commissioners, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Join us for a fun day of fishing and outdoor recreation in partnership with the Newark Bait and Fly Casting Club," according to Union County.

Pre-registration is required. Residents can register by calling 908-527-4781 or by visiting ucnj.org/opdsn-reg.

The fishing derby is hosted by the Union County Office for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs.

That office operates under the Division of Individual and Family Support Services in the Union County Department of Human Services.
