Free Ice Cream Could Be Waiting For Safe Cyclists In Westfield
Westfield police are handing out ice cream coupons to riders spotted wearing helmets and practicing safe cycling habits.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield residents who practice safe cycling habits this summer may be rewarded with a free ice cream cone.
The Westfield Police Department announced a partnership with Westfield Gas + Electric/Whip City Fiber to recognize and reward members of the community for wearing helmets and riding safely.
According to the department, officers who see someone wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle, scooter or skateboard — or otherwise practicing safe cycling habits — may stop and provide a coupon for a free ice cream cone.

The coupons can be redeemed at one of three participating Westfield ice cream shops: Mrs. C's Soft Serve, Mr. Whipy's or Northside Creamery.
In announcing the program, the department encouraged residents to "stay safe, stay cool, and enjoy your summer rides."
