Grease Fire Erupts At Westfield Pizzeria
The fire was reported on Sunday night in Westfield.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A grease fire erupted at a Westfield pizzeria on Sunday night.
At 9:44 p.m., Westfield Police got a 911 call reporting a grease fire at the rear of Buona Pizza on South Avenue E, according to UnionCounty WestfieldFirebuffs.
Firefighters confirmed an active grease fire and stretched a 1¾-inch handline to a nearby hydrant. A ladder was positioned onto the roof and firefighters brought an extinguisher inside, according to fire buffs.

Using the extinguisher, firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the fire, allowing crews to begin overhaul. The fire was placed under control shortly afterward.
While Westfield Fire operated at this incident, Springfield Ladder, Plainfield Engine, and Cranford Engine covered Westfield in case of any other calls for service.
