Grilled Cheese Shoppe Opens in Westfield

Westfield, NJ -- Think back to your childhood to the days when you enjoyed a nice, tasty grilled cheese.

Recreating those warm and fuzzy memories, The Grilled Cheese Shoppe in Westfield is offering an eclectic assortment of everything grilled cheese.

“It just makes me think of my childhood with the big, comfort food,” owner Nick Louros of Little Ferry told Patch. “It resonates with other people the same way. But I wanted something different. I wanted to create unique lunch and dinner food that we don’t have in the area."

The shop, opened by Louros, held its soft opening last week. And locals have been lining up every since.

“The line has been out the door everyday pretty much,” Louros said. “I could’ve never dreamed for this. I am very thankful and taken aback. We have been quite busy to say the least.”

Food is in Louros’ DNA, as his family ran a few diners growing up. He worked there while attending high school and college where he majored in accounting.

But food kept calling him back.

“I find enjoyment in what I do with food,” Louros said. “It came down to really enjoying food and serving people and seeing how happy people were.”

At the Shoppe, Louros makes everything from scratch using premium, quality ingredients. The menu offers the classic grilled cheese made with cheddar, mozzarella, smoked gouda on sourdough.

And also offers more refined, elevated sandwiches using ingredients such as truffle oil. The Truffle Melt is made of Havarti, Gruyere, arugula, basil pesto, truffle aioli on sourdough.

There are also breakfast grilled cheeses offered for brunch on the weekends and dessert grilled cheeses such as the Banana Crunch, made with Honey Mascarpone, Nutella, banana, kettle chips on a waffle.

There is a food item for everyone in the family.

“Westfield is a very family-oriented town and that resonates with me because my family and wife are very important to me,” Louros said. “I want to offer somewhere where you can come out with the kids and also get something for the parents.”
