Four Inches Of Rain, Flash Floods Slam Area; Route 22 Shut Down
The doppler radar estimates that between 4 and 5 inches of rain has fallen. Flash flooding will continue through this evening.

A flash flood warning remains in effect until 5:45 p.m. for western Essex and Union counties as heavy rain and lightning shut down a section of U.S. 22.
A doppler radar indicated thunderstorms continuing to produce heavy rain across the warned area. Trained spotters reported that Route 22 in Mountainside was closed due to flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
The doppler radar estimates that between 4 and 5 inches of rain has fallen in western Union County. Flash flooding will continue through this evening as thunderstorms with heavy rain continue to train over that area.
