Here's A (Tasty) ‘Scoop:' Ralph’s Ices to Open in Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ - Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices and Ice Cream chain will open its newest franchise at 524 Central Ave. in Westfield this spring, according to the store’s website.

The chain serves up hard and soft-serve ice cream, water ice, and smoothies at more than 75 franchise locations in the Tri-State Area.

The Westfield shop will be run by New Jersey resident Catherine Vera Jensen, a longtime fan of the frozen treats.

“I fell in love with this company 16 years ago when I walked into my first Ralph’s with my daughter, who was one at the time,” she said in a story on TAPinto. “We both became addicted to their fruit ices. I would drive for miles to get to the store that sold them. I can’t wait to start spreading the delight of the best Italian ice ever made to the community this spring.”

The story says the location will provide ample free parking and an outdoor seating area.

The business was founded by Ralph Silvestro, an Italian immigrant, in 1928. He opened his first retail location in Staten Island in 1949.
