Illegal Dumping, DWI Arrest, Fraud, Theft Reported In Westfield

Westfield Police released its blotter for the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A DWI arrest, illegal dumping, fraud, theft, and more were reported in the recent Westfield Police blotter.

Westfield Police Blotter – March 23 to March 29:

On March 24 at 10:12 a.m.: A resident of the 900 block of Willow Grove Road reported illegal dumping on their property. The resident stated that someone dumped six black construction bags full of garbage on the resident's property, then fled the area.

On March 24 at 2:09 p.m.: A resident of Carol Road reported being a victim of fraud. According to the resident, she met a suspect online who was using a fake online profile to gain her trust as a friend. Thereafter, the suspect asked the victim for money, and she sent him $2,050 over two months. Once the resident realized that she was being scammed, she stopped sending additional money and contacted the police.

On March 25 at 11 a.m.: An employee of a business establishment located in the 400 block of East North Avenue reported an incident of suspected theft. According to the employee, while he was transporting a vehicle, the dealer license plate mounted on this vehicle had been removed by unknown suspect(s). The approximate value of the stolen license plate is $50.

On March 25 at 3:30 p.m.: A resident of the 600 block of Shadowlawn Drive reported that her catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle during overnight hours. The vehicle was parked on Knollwood Terrace. When the resident returned to her vehicle, she discovered that her catalytic converter was missing since her engine was making a very loud noise when running. The approximate cost of repair and parts is $3,000.

On March 28 at 2 p.m.: A resident in the 300 block of W. Broad Street reports a package theft that occurred in the main lobby of a local apartment building by an unidentified suspect. The victim suffered a monetary loss of approximately $175 as a result of this incident.

On March 29 at 10:32 p.m.: Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue and Clover Street that resulted in a DWI investigation. Thomas Lee, 58, of Linden, was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to Westfield Police Department Headquarters. He was processed and released on a summons to a sober adult.
