Knife Fight Between 2 Homeless Men Leads To Arrest At Union County Church
Derrick M. Jones, 63, an unhoused man, was charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
SUMMIT, NJ — A knife fight between two homeless men at a church in Summit led to one person being arrested on Tuesday morning.
On Sept. 12 at 10:29 a.m., Summit Police Department got a report of an altercation involving two men and a knife at Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation on 4 Waldron Ave. in Summit.
Police were able to get the knife and arrested Derrick M. Jones, 63, an unhoused man, was charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to Summit officials.

The victim was a 56-year-old unhoused man. There were no reported injuries.
Jones was released with an Oct. 12, 2023, Superior Court first appearance date.
