'Loyal' Dispatcher Honored In Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ - For the better part of two decades, when calls were being routed through to first responders in Westfield there was a good chance they were being sent via senior dispatcher Kim Sakr. Sakr was given a social media shoutout as part of National Public Safety Telecommunications week.

Hired on July 30, 2001, Sakr has processed countless calls in service of the community over her nearly 18-year career in Westfield.

"Dispatcher Sakr has been a loyal employee of the Westfield Police Department since 2001," Westfield Chief of Police Christopher Battiloro told Patch. "She is our most senior dispatcher and she has given us consistency in the position."

Sakr is a member of the East Brunswick Elks #2370 and the Cheesequake First Aid Squad in Old Bridge. Sakr is married to Nabig Sakr, who owns N&C Jewelers in Westfield and they have two children: Nabig Jr., who is a Police Officer with the Philadelphia Police Department, and Desiree Burnette. Her son-in-law, Michael, is a Firefighter with the Baltimore City Fire Department. Sakr also has two grandsons, Sean, age 12 and Michael Jr., age 3.

"We value her experience greatly," Battiloro said.
