Man Arrested For Car Burglary In Westfield

The Westfield Police Blotter also included arrests for outstanding warrants and a shoplifting.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A man was recently arrested for car burglary in Westfield.

On April 29 at 1:12 a.m., upon receiving reports of multiple motor vehicle burglaries near the 500 block of Coleman Place, officers found Jawan J. King, 30, of Newark, in the area of Coleman Place and Eaglecroft Road, said police.

Upon further investigation, King was placed under arrest for burglary to a motor vehicle, theft by unlawful taking, and trespassing.

King was taken to Westfield Police Department Headquarters, where he was processed accordingly. He was then committed to Union County Jail on a warrant for the above-mentioned charges.

On April 29 at 11:17 a.m.: Christian Litus, 21, of Plainfield, was placed under arrest on the strength of an outstanding traffic warrant out of South Plainfield Municipal Court for $500 as a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of 200 E. South Avenue. He was processed on scene and released on his own recognizance.

On April 29 at 9:14 p.m.: Officers Picciano and Forcenito conducted a motor vehicle stop at W. South Avenue and Drake Place that resulted in the arrest of Alasha Peterson, 20, of Plainfield, for an outstanding ATS warrant issued by the Westfield Municipal Court for $1,000. Peterson was subsequently taken to Westfield Police Department Headquarters, where she was released on her own recognizance with a new court date.

On May 1 at 2:34 p.m.: The manager of a business located on the 200 block of East North Avenue reported the shoplifting of a pair of sunglasses valued at $25.
